View From The Top: Unique Book Construction
The Brownstein Group
With the introduction and planning of Philadelphia’s upscale 10 Rittenhouse Square condominium building, the developers contracted with The Brownstein Group to create their advertising and collateral material.
Brownstein’s plan called for a flagship marketing piece: A “coffee table” style book to display the lifestyle of living on Rittenhouse Square. Appropriately, a square format was chosen, opening to a double gatefold center spread showing the view from one of the building’s penthouses during each of the four seasons.
Mindful of their budget, Brownstein was looking for a large format— 11″ square— that would feature the double gatefold and still fit on a 40-inch press. CRW came up with a unique solution: Gather two six-page signatures with a four-page signature and the cover allowing the illusion of a continuous 44″ center spread.
To finish, the piece was side-stitched with a color coordinated spine wrap and engraved front cover. Text pages were printed in four-color process with two special match colors, overall satin aqueous coating, and spot matte UV coating for a weighty, luxurious feel.
With precise planning and gorgeous production, the books helped the developer pre-sell 80% of the units before they even broke ground.
